Our Rating

We chose our rating to be a 15 . We used this rating because we thought that teenagers under 15 should not see some of the content that we show in our film, as it has a lot of violence and sexual content. However we choose not to make it to 18 because that would miss out our target audience.

New Line Cinema's

Our distributor is New Line distributor. It is often known as just New Line. It was founded in 1967. It is a major American distrubutor. It did begin as idependant film produce. It then merged with their big sister Warner Brothers.

Question Six

What have you learnt about the technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I have learnt many new things from using the different technologies while making our title sequence. The main technologies I have learnt how to use was the Acrobe Premier 3. This is the program that lets you put your title sequence together. I learnt how to cut the scenes/shots, upload them, shorten or lengthen them and also how to use the special effects such as fading.
Another technology i learned how to use is the Sony Handycam. At first I found it quite difficult to use because I couldn't keep it still when filming a shot but i think that I got a lot better at it after using it a couple of times. I learned with the Handycam how to film the shots that i had already learnt and put them into practice.

question 7

Looking back at your prelimary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product.?

I think i have learnt alot about filming and making a title sequence. Since the prelimary task I think i have become much better at understanding continuity and other things.
In our preliminary task, some of our filming was shaky which I think we improved in our title sequence.I have also learned about the different shots to use and which shot needs to go in which scene. In the prelimary scene I didn't really understand what each different shot was for.I have also learnt what each shot can add to the mood of the scene.

Question 5

How did you attract your audience?

We did many different things in order to attract our audience.

The main attraction we used was our music. We got our music from freeplay.com. We used the song, Final sacrafice. This attracts our audience because it is very dark and mysterious. It immetialy grabs the attention of the auidence.

Another thing we used to grab the attention is a black screen with a quote inspired by the film The quiet. This will make the audience question what they are watching and it adds tension.

Question 4

Who would the audience be for your media product?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This is a picture of Alexia Taylor. She is 18 years old and has never really felt like she has belonged. She usually dresses in dark clothes and is always wearing her old red converse. Her hair is straight and blonde but she usually ties it back. She listens to music such as Paramore. She has one best friend who is a 17 year old boy Darren who she is secretly in love with but he doesn;t see it. She enjoys physcological thrillers and horrors, such as Gothika. She spends time drawing and writing poems.

Question 3

What type of media institution might distribrute your media product and why?

We decided that the type of industry that would produce this type of film would be an idependant film distributor. We then found New Line Cinema which used to be an independant but was now mainstream. We thought this would be a good production company to have because they cared about breaking stereotypes but was still a big company. Another reason we chose it was because it distrubuted the film Hard Candy which was our main inspiration for the film.

Question 2

How does your media product represent particular sociol groups?

Our media product represents a teenage girls from around the age 15-20 years. The type of girls that are represeneted in our title sequence were girls that feel alone, who are considered to be outsiders and also romantic girls. We represented them by showing our main character in clothes that arent shown as "fashionable" and "recent". We also had her carrying a rose, this is a romantic, abnormal thing to do.
I think this representation could be seen as stereotypical because the girl was an "obvious" outsider and we didnt break the norms and values of how a lonely girl would look. However i think that our product created quite a posotive effect because this type of sociol group usually doesnt usually get shown on big films.

Question One (:

As Media Evaluation.

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

We put our title frame at the end of our title sequence. We added it at the end so that when the film is about to play, the title will appear just before it. Our picture was of our main character Carrie and a rose next to her. The title is written in red because it goes well with our thriller theme and could also signify blood and romance which are both main apects of our film. We used the font, Santo Dument. This font has a shadow to the back of it, so it gives the title a creepy edge.
Other forms and conventions I have seen in other thriller title sequences are the title frame coming before the action and also the font being black and white. In the title sequence Hard Candy, the film we took inspiration from is a good example of this.
We challenged the forms and conventions of a normal thriller title opening by putting action in it, with the main character of the film. This is different from normal thriller which usually has a very simple animated title opening to conceal the action.

Now For The Editing

Our group have a lot of editing to do. Minh is in charge of music and me, Tiffiny and Dayo are going to edit different parts of it.

Editing it is harder than i expected! The thing i am finding hardest is making the scenes go together to make it look like an actual film...

Filming

Filming is over YEEEY.

Script

we still need to write a script for our title sequence. We are going to do a voice over because we think this is going to add to the tension of our sequence.

Character!

We have now changed our title name to Carrie's Rose. This is our actress ! Yey.

Clothes of our Main Character.

This is the character in hard candy which our title sequence is inspired from.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
As you can see the character is wearing clothes thats don't alwys match. She has a strange look to her but she doesnt fit into any type of stereotype.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
She also wears quite plain clothes and is obviously not very image conscious or glamourous. From her appearence you can tell that there is more to her than what you see.

OUR CHARACTER!.

This is the sort of thing we will be dressing our character in.

I am going to upload our presentation onto the blog.
Today i am going to sort out all my blog and go through Nina's check list to make sure i have everything.
Also if the rest of our group comes in we are going to start filming.
We are going to start to do all the scenes that don't include the actress.
We also need to take photo's of ourselfs filming.

Monday 4 January 2010

NO ACTING!!

Nina told us that we cant use someone in our group to act. Sooo we have to find someone quick ! Nina told us about a prefesional actress

Mood Board!

This is a mood board for the whole of my title sequence. This includes font of the title sequence, symbols of our title sequence, characters in title sequences and more...

Character Mood Board

I am making a mood board that represents our leading girls style and clothes. I have given her a different look which is not quite typical "emo" or "goth" but still very different. She does not fit a modern day look and is very "outside the box".

OUR TITLE SEQUENCE...CONTINUED

In between each scene me and Dayo have decided that we are going to have a flash of black and red font for the actors and directors names will appear on the screen. The flash of the black will also add to the scenes tension and fit the with theme of our title sequence.

We have a month to get all our title sequence and editing filmed and sent off.
So its WORK WORK WORK.!
